Can you imagine even one day of our lives without packaging?
Almost all people use every day about a dozen packs and throw them away every year by the hundreds. Used packaging make up a large part (50 to 80%) of all waste generated in our homes.
Just imagine that each of us produce about 300 or more pounds of waste on average per year and this figure is constantly growing. To reduce the amount of waste going to landfills is possible through recycling, but in order to recycle, they need to be sorted. It is a basic requirement for recycling. Waste sorted by residents to separated glass, paper and cardboard, metal, plastic is turning into new packaging, furniture, clothing and many other useful things. So collected plastic bottle come to the plant "PLARUS", where they are recycled into raw material for new plastic bottles.
The system of sorting household waste can only work with the personal participation of each. Of course, first of all, you need to make an effort and change your habits.
In September, 2010 companies Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Hellenic in Russia and PET recycling plant PLARUS with the support of administration of Solnechnogorsky municipal region started the project of separated PET waste collection in Solnechnogorsk.
The main objective of the project is to raise public awareness of the importance of sorting waste, the possibility of recycling plastic bottles. The project allows to improve the ecology of the city, due to the fact that a plastic bottle, comprising up to 80% of all household waste is collected in special containers and sent directly to the processing plant. For separate collection of plastic bottles, on the territory of the city of Solnechnogorsk were fixed over 80 recognizable containers and placed informational posters and banners. Today, we collect about 45% of consumption in PET bottles and thus do not allow their contact with the Moscow region landfills, turning waste into valuable raw materials.
In the framework of the program among schools in the city of Solnechnogorsk were organized ecological activities aimed at formation of ecological culture and moral attitude towards the environment among schoolchildren, the education of responsible and careful attitude to Nature. In school period the child is most inquisitive, deeper and easier to digest new information. Therefore, a significant role in environmental education and education belongs to the teacher, but only joint work of the project organizers, teachers, parents and children themselves will be brought up in respect to the environment. The study of the relationship of the system "Man-Nature-Culture" and a contribution to the prevention and elimination of the impact negative for environment, will enable us to form a reasonable, moral, environmentally literate society. The education of aesthetic perception of nature by the students is not possible without taking into account their needs in creative, educational, and applied activities. In order to attract attention to the problems of recycling plastic bottles, teachers, students and parents were invited to participate in the recycling of used plastic bottles, to give her a second life. For this purpose it was required only to show their talents and create from ordinary plastic bottle into something unique, funny or useful. The original articles were presented at the exhibition "Second life of packaging".
